I also had the same experience with my little boy--he grabbed a couple of coins from my purse. What I did was I talked to him in a calm and gentle manner and told him that he should not take things that does not belong to him. He returned the coins and just responded by nodding and ran back to his play area. I thought maybe he was just curious with the what's inside the purse that's making all the chinking sound..
