When I read the Oprah article I thought back to when I was in first grade. I wanted to be accepted so much so I created a lie to my desk neighbors about how many jelly bracelets I had. I wanted to seem cool. I still feel bad about that lie today and I am in my mid 30's. I guess when I have children I I will help them get comfortable with their true self and accept that sometimes they will do things to be accepted..but help them through the challenge. I know it is corny and I am not a mother yet..but I have always thought love will help your children through the tough times:)
Marilyn, love can help your children through tough times. It's great you are already planning ahead ways you want to parent. That is important. Everyone strives to fit it. Teaching children the gift of how to love themselves and become comfortable in their own skin is priceless. Oprah is priceless. She has brought the world many lessons.
